Filing DEADLINES for Agricultural Appraisals

In 9 days January 1, 2011 agriculutural use filings (traditional ag and wildlife management) will be occuring in all Texas counties. The DEADLINE to file by is no later than midnight on April 30, 2011.


An extension maybe granted by the chief appraiser for not more than 60 days. Extension requests should be in writing and made BEFORE May 1 (if it isn’t in writing — how can you prove you asked?). If a request is NOT made by the landowner and the 1-d-1 application is filed late AFTER April 30, then a penalty of 10 percent (10%) of the difference between the tax if imposed at market value and the tax imposed at agricultural productivity value.
